Traditional architecture refers to the way of building that makes use of the typical forms of housing in a particular place. The interior will usually reflect the usual rooms you will have come to expect, making use of the resources and traditions that have historically been accepted, and is otherwise known as vernacular architecture. Here at Oaktree Architectural, we are a traditional architecture group, sure to deliver the style you desire.
Whilst this type of architecture may be seen as simple and practical, there is always still the potential for interesting new designs, incorporating modern aspects within the traditional style of delivery to create bespoke homes. Traditional techniques and materials are passed down throughout history, but they are also always built upon through naturally occurring advancements in technology, as tradition moves with time.
An example of traditional architecture that we have carried out is on this large Victorian terraced property. Here, we made the most of a tight-walled garden plot to the rear of the house, where you can see a patio area beyond the large French doors, mixing a modern style with traditional design. We used traditional materials including stone cills and sliding sash windows, able to overcome any planning constraints with our design skills, enhancing the existing street scene. You will notice typical materials are used here to create a light, bright and airy space.
